Phuket, Thailand – Seedlings is a social enterprise eatery concept aiming to empower young adults via vocational training and job opportunities, giving them the necessary life skills to forge successful careers in hospitality. Seedlings Restaurant leverages Angsana’s Food and Beverage expertise to create a lasting positive impact upon host communities.
Seedlings program is developed and managed by Laguna Resorts & Hotels PLC Restaurant operations and training is facilitated by Banyan Tree Phuket and Angsana Laguna Phuket. Curriculum consultation and endorsement by Prince of Songkla University, Phuket Campus, and Ministry of Social Development & Human Welfare (Phuket office). The training and mentoring program focuses on career and personal development, including English language and computer skills training. This program is designed for disadvantaged and marginalized local youths aged between 18 – 25 years old. Since October 2014, 75 interns have joined Seedlings Internship Program. 31 interns have graduated, 20 interns were employed at our property and 8 persons are working at Seedlings restaurant from September 2018.
Our Seedlings Trainees receive specialist training in either Kitchen, Services or Front of House Services, together with regular English classes. The restaurant’s focus on career and personal development includes training opportunities at the neighbouring Angsana Laguna Phuket and Angsana Villas Resort allowing the trainees to learn and interact with seasoned hospitality service professionals.
Seedlings Phuket focusses on local Phuket dishes such as Yam Pak Kood Kung Sod (Paco Fern Salad with Shrimps), Khua Kling Pla (Stir-fried Minced Fish with Yellow Curry Paste), Thai and International favourites. Seedlings is managed by Angsana Villas Resort Phuket and located in Laguna Holiday Club Phuket Resort. This restaurant overlooks the pool and towards the golf course beyond, serving daily from 6am to 10pm. Currently Seedlings restaurant offers “Phuket Street Food Buffet” with authentic local dishes representing the best of Phuket and southern Thai cuisine like local fish BBQ, grilled pork, Moo Hong and much more.
